Who Are We?
Elote Man, comes from my best memories as a kid hearing the horn coming down the street and imagining the taste of durritos and an elote. For me, the name elote man is my duality of being Mexican American, and wanting to express my appreciation of both cultures through my pieces. Elote man is culture and tradition, but it’s also about creating a community of all ages who can bond over and enjoy something i made. Elote Man is also meant to bring my and other people’s similar childhood to a physical memory like a pciture. I see an Elotero/Elotera as someone who serves the community, someone who as a child, put prices aside for the happiness of their people. At the same time, they make memories and smiles for all the people who hear the sound of their horn when they’re passing by. Elote Man does not discriminate or push away anyone willing to show love. The pieces/experiences that I make are all a piece of my life, with being something I’ve experienced, or something meant to make people think about what they buy in an age where a lot of things are superficial and “trend-made”. My job as a creator is to make sure that people are aware of the world they’re living in with pieces like (Ice Melts, Time Doesn’t Care About Regrets, and Media Killed The Romance). At the end of the day, Elote Man was made out of love for what I do. Elote Man isn’t just here to make money, but to make the world a place of better and present people. Y si, yo cocino elotes y durros, for the people who might think I’m not about my name.
